Designmuseum Danmark

After a two-year historic renovation, Designmuseum Danmark finally opened its doors again in the summer of 2022. With a PR initiative, these messages were clarified so that the external communication made a significant impression with the news of the reopening.

In short

Situation

After a two-year historic renovation, Designmuseum Danmark finally opened its doors again in the summer of 2022. The museum’s collections, library and archives form the central knowledge centre for historical design research in Denmark. With the many new exhibitions and the thorough renovation, the museum’s narrative speaks to several agenda-setting themes. For example, topics such as cultural heritage, conservation and rethinking the role as cultural mediator. The requirement was a PR initiative that contributes to clarifying and underpinning this, so that the external communication makes a significant impression with the news of the reopening.

Solution

The solution was a strategic PR initiative with the aim of assisting and organizing the management of the press in connection with the reopening. Management of the press ensures that the messages about the museum and its work reach a wide audience in national PR coverage that makes Designmuseum Danmark visible and creates increased awareness and relevance to the right target groups.

Results

The press initiative conveys the museum’s competences, history, values and visions up to – and during – the reopening. The communication illustrates a relevant picture of the museum in a way that can be used by Designmuseum Danmark itself, both in the PR work now and in the future.

Description

With a unique location in the middle of Copenhagen’s historic centre, between tourist magnets, harbour baths, businesses and galleries, Designmuseum Danmark is a living, working archive and gateway to Denmark as a design destination. Today, the museum is one of the Nordic region’s key exhibition venues for Danish and international industrial design, art industry and arts and crafts.
